Graphics Card - GPU

As mentioned before, your graphics card will be the main factor for what determines your hash rate. Simply put, hash rate is a measure of your computational power while mining. The measure of MH/s (mega hash per second) will be used as a reference to find profitability.

NVIDIA™ and AMD™ are the main chipset makers for GPUs, and both have multiple manufacturers that produce graphics cards (EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, etc.). Different manufacturer cards vary slightly in build specs and quality, but the MH/s will be relatively comparable between manufacturers for similar models. Finding a GPU requires a reliable source and a bit of knowledge to find how you can get the most out of your build.

What is NVIDIA LHR?

NVIDIA offers the best GPUs for mining, but recent 30 series cards add another consideration for calculating mining profitability: LHR.

NVIDIA LHR (Lite Hash Rate) technology limits a GPUs ability mine. LHR affects NVIDIA 30 series graphics cards manufactured from 5/2021 on. LHR cards are less expensive for this reason, but they still perform and recent breakthroughs in mining software can unlock some of the potential. The RTX 3060 and RTX 3060Ti are of the best
GPUs to get your return on investment (ROI) back faster.

All Ti variants in the 30 series are LHR. 3090 are not limited. Read the official announcement from NVIDIA

Finding a GPU

Graphics cards can range from $500 to $3000 each, and will be the most expensive piece of the build.

StockX is among the most trustworthy resellers for GPUs that you can find online, but it comes with a price.

As with gaming computers - you can find a multitude of resellers and deals to get a GPU, but make sure to fi
nd a reputable seller, especially if you look for used cards on eBay or elsewhere.
